He is a PhD candidate in Sociology at Johns Hopkins University, USA, and a researcher at the Arrighi Center for Global Studies at the same institution. He holds a master's degree in Sociology from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a master's degree in Political Sociology at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE, UK) where he was a Chevening Scholar. He is Bachelor in Social Science at the Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Humanities of the University of São Paulo (USP), with the last semester coursed at King's College London (UK) funded by AUCANI/USP. Mateus has experience in Sociology, acting on the following subjects: trade unionism, social movements, political sociology and qualitative methods. Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the postgraduate journal of the Department of Sociology of LSE, the New Sociological Perspectives.
