Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz (ESALQ)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Associate Professor at the Department of Food Science and Technology, ESALQ/USP. President of the Research and Innovation Committee at ESALQ/USP. Advisor for postgraduate programs in Animal Bioscience (FZEA/USP), Animal and Pasture Science (ESALQ/USP) and Food Science and Technology (ESALQ/USP). PhD in Sciences from the Animal and Pasture Science program at ESALQ/USP with a research internship at Iowa State University (ISU) in the area of Animal Breeding Genetics and Genomics. Master in Veterinary Sciences, area of Animal Production (pig production and genetics) from the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), degree in Animal Science from the University of São Paulo (USP), IC in animal traceability in the area of molecular biology and research carried out at Parco Tecnologico Padano/University of Milan in Italy. Post-Doctorate in animal genetic improvement and genomics from Iowa State University (ISU). He has experience in the area of animal production, genetics and functional genomics. Expertise in the area of identification and use of molecular markers for the genetic selection and traceability of products of animal origin; differential gene expression; identification of candidate functional mutations; effect of nutritional elements on gene expression (nutrigenomics). Currently works with bioinformatics tools for the analysis of large-scale genotyping data (GWAS), next generation sequencing (RNA-Seq, DNA-Seq, miRNA, sRNAs, lncRNA, etc.), called SNPs and INDELs, applied metagenomics to Food Sciences and better understanding of Functional Genomics. These tools are currently extremely important for expanding our professional, academic and research horizons, due to the rapid evolution and accessibility of phenotypic, genetic and environmental data made available by researchers and stored in publicly accessible databases. He works in research in the area of functional foods and development of new products. Participates and collaborates with different national and international research groups, and has disseminated the knowledge acquired through courses, training, participation in disciplines, orientations, co-supervisions, review of articles, evaluation of scientific works, preparation of didactic texts and, defense and qualification panels. Thesis nominated for the USP/2015 award. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
