Rui Curi is Bachelor in Pharmacy and Biochemistry from the State University of Maringá (1980), Master (1982) and PhD (1984) in Human Physiology at Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of São Paulo. Rui Curi is currently full professor at the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Universidade de São Paulo. He works on intermediary metabolism and metabolism and function of leukocytes and investigates the metabolism of glutamine and fatty acids and the control by insulin, diets and physical exercise. Rui Curi was head of the Department, Director of ICB-USP, and Undergraduate Studies Provost Advicer. He was recipient of the Comenda of the Pharmacy Federal Council and Fellow of Guggenheim Foundation (USA). He is Adjunct Distinguished Research Fellow within the School of Biomedical Science, Faculty of Health Sciences, Curtin University (Australia),and has been recognised by the Curtin University as Excellent and Active Visting Fellow. Honoris Causa Doctor by the Maringá State University. He is member of Sao Paulo Sciences Academy and Brazilian Academy of Sciences.
