Holds a medical degree from the Ribeirão Preto Medical School-USP (FMRP-USP), residency in Internal Medicine and Pulmonology at the Hospital das Clínicas at FMRP-USP and a Ph.D in Internal Medicine (Pulmonology) at FMRP-USP. He completed postdoctoral studies at the Meakins-Christie Laboratory, McGill, Canada. He is currently a professor at the Internal Medicine Department of FMRP-USP and coordinator of the Laboratory of Experimental Pulmonary Pathophysiology. He coordinated a Young Researcher Program at Emerging Centers (FAPESP) and the Integrated Health Emergencies Center of FMRP-USP. He is an associate researcher at Center for Research in Inflammatory Diseases (NAP-DIN and CRID, CEPID-FAPESP), and has as its research line Etiopathogenesis and treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases. He is the current administrative coordinator of the Emergency Unit of the HCFMRP-USP.
