Birthplace: Brazil

Holds a bachelor's degree in biological sciences - emphasis on biotechnology from the Universidade do Vale do Itajaí (2005). Received his PhD from the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of São Paulo, where he was a FAPESP postdoctoral fellow investigating the effects of omega-3 fatty acids on energy metabolism (2011). Worked at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) investigating postprandial metabolic adaptations, using mass spectrometry to identify markers of phenotypic flexibility. At the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) he developed research in search of new metabolites of dietary monoterpenoids using in silico tools to predict the metabolism of xenobiotics and high resolution mass spectrometry. He is a professor in the Department of Food and Experimental Nutrition of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of São Paulo acting in the area of metabolomics in food and nutrition.
