Biochemist from the Pharmaceutical Sciences Faculty, University of São Paulo (1982), MSc(1990) and PhD (1998) on Microbiology at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of Sao Paulo, including research at the Institut für Molekulare Mikrobiologie und Biotechnologie, Münster, Germany, with a RHAE CNPq scholarship in 1996. Experience and focus of work on Bacterial Applied Microbiology. Member of the Lab of Bioproducts at the University of São Paulo and the PRIBOP CYTED Iberoamerican Network on Biopolymers and other bioproducts. Research topics include bacterial metabolism, metabolic flux analysis, biosynthesis of biodegradable plastics and elastomeric materials, mainly polyhydroaxyalkanoates, other bacterial byproducts from biomass, use of hemicelulosic materials and other agro-industrial residues do generate byproducts and search for new bacterial chassis to synthesize new bioproducts.
