Arlys Nicolás Batalla Crossa

Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Museu de Arqueologia e Etnologia (MAE)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Uruguai

I have a Bachelor's degree in Anthropological Sciences from Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educación, Uruguay (2011). I have a Masters (2018) and a PhD (2023) degree in Archaeology by the Graduate Program in Archaeology of the Museu de Arqueologia e Etnologia (Universidade de São Paulo, Brasil). My main research interests focus on the relationship between archaeology and geosciences, i.e. Geoarchaeology, and on lithic technological analysis. In my bachelor monograph as well as in my masters research I tackled the issue of lithic raw material procurement among hunter-gatherers, by using artefactual and lithological indicators. During my PhD project, I looked forward to understand the applications of geochemichal, micromorphological and other microarchaeological proxies in archaeology, to unravel site formation processes and anthropogenic contributions to sediments and soils.
