I am interested in the mechanical behavior of additively manufactured (AM) parts made of metallic alloys, polymeric and composite materials. Mainly those related to the structural application in the automotive and aerospace industries. I have extensive experience in welding and joining friction stir welding (FSW) of aluminum, magnesium alloys, and high strength low alloy steels. Likewise, we are interested in these projects' mechanical and microstructural links to increase their performance. Therefore, we use advanced microscopy techniques, X-ray measurements (conventional and synchrotron sources), and fracture toughness and cycle load tests to solve fundamental inquiries within these works. I have advised several undergrads and graduate students on several topics. Finally, in my experience as a teacher and researcher, I feel committed to keeping doing both activities. I feel happy seeing students' faces when they understand a new concept in the classroom. During research projects, I got a personal realization to contribute to scientific development and advise students on their research journey. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
