She holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV) and a Masters and Ph.D. in Microbiology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). As part of her doctoral studies, she conducted a research internship at the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Virology Research Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine of São José do Rio Preto (FAMERP), where she is also a faculty member in the Graduate Program in Health Sciences, and later pursued a second postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Pathology of the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB).Currently, she is a researcher at the Nanotechnology Service of the Nuclear Technology Development Center (CDTN). Trained as a virologist, her research focuses on viral biotechnology, particularly on the development of innovative diagnostic platforms and vaccine vectors. Her main line of investigation is in nanobiomedicine, with an emphasis on the application of nanomaterials and advanced materials in biological processes.She is the co-founder and member of the Nanobiomedical Research Group (nanobiomrg.com), based at UFMG and engaged in national and international collaborations. She is also the co-founder of the innovation startup NanoSignals (nanosignals.com.br), currently part of the Growbio acceleration program at Biominas. Her ongoing research explores the use of gold and carbon nanomaterials for the development of alternative diagnostic platforms and vaccine carriers for infectious and chronic diseases.
