Birthplace: Brazil

Professor in the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Philosophy, Languages, and Human Sciences at the University of São Paulo (FFLCH/USP). Advisor in the Graduate Program in Physical Geography (FFLCH/USP). Completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Campinas (funded by FUNCAMP), focusing on evaluating soil health and carbon stabilization potential in Brazilian semi-arid soils under Agave cultivation. This research was part of the Brazilian Agave Development (BRAVE) project, launched by Shell Brasil in partnership with Unicamp, to develop Agave as a productive, efficient, and competitive biomass source capable of capturing and storing significant amounts of carbon. From 2021 to 2023, completed another postdoctoral fellowship (funded by FAPESP) at the University of São Paulo, addressing the vulnerability of mangrove soils to climate change, with a focus on iron and carbon biogeochemistry and implications for ecosystem services. Holds a Ph.D. in Soils and Plant Nutrition, with a specialization in Pedogenesis and Soil Geography, from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ/USP; CAPES Concept 7), with part of the doctorate conducted at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) in 2019-2020. Earned a Master's degree in Soil Science from the Federal University of Ceará (CAPES Concept 4) and a degree in Agronomy from the Federal University of Ceará in 2014.Expertise includes agronomy, soil science, focusing on pedogenesis, soil geochemistry, contaminated soils, greenhouse gas emissions, carbon dynamics, and coastal ecosystem soils (hydromorphic soils). Editor of the Special Issue "Geochemical Behavior of Heavy Metals in Soils and Waters from Mining Sites" in the journal Minerals, Guest Editor of the Research Topic "Micro/Trace Elements (M/TEs) and Marine Ecosystems" in Frontiers in Marine Science, Guest Editor of the "Focus Issue on Soil Pollution" in Environmental Research Communications, and Editorial Board Member of Discover Soil. Member of the Brazilian Soil Health Partnership (BSHP), an initiative linked to the Center for Carbon Studies in Tropical Agriculture (CCARBON) at USP since April 2024. Coordinator of the Applied Pedology Research Center (NUPPA). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
