Frederico Hickmann received a degree in Agronomic Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) and a master's in entomology from the University of São Paulo (USP). He was a Scholarship holder of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) at Auburn University and University of Kentucky USA by the Science Without Borders program. He is currently a doctoral student in entomology at the University of São Paulo (USP) in the School of Agriculture "Luiz de Queiroz" (ESALQ). He did a sandwich doctorate at The Ohio State University USA. Works with agricultural entomology with a multidisciplinary approach to molecular ecology, adaptation to biotic and abiotic factors, and insect-plant interaction of pest insects.
