Birthplace: Brazil

Researcher associated with the Department of Biology at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom and the Department of Medicine at the Federal University of São Paulo. Graduated in Biomedicine (2008-2011), Master in Biosciences and Biotechnology in Health from the Research Center Aggeu Magalhães/ FIOCRUZ-PE (2012-2014), and PhD in Infectious Diseases from the Federal University of São Paulo with a sandwich doctorate held at the University of Cardiff (Funded by PDSE-CAPES). He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Department of Medicine at the Federal University of São Paulo (FAPESP scholarship holder) and at the University of Cardiff in the United Kingdom, where he carried out studies with bacteriophages. He presents experience involving pathogenic and environmental bacteria with an emphasis in the areas of molecular biology, prokaryotic genetics, basic and clinical microbiology, and microorganism genetics. It operates mainly in the following areas: Molecular investigation of genes and determinants of resistance to antimicrobials, bacterial virulence, nosocomial infections, molecular characterization of mobile genetic elements, genomic analysis, new therapeutic options to combat resistance to antimicrobials. In recent years, he has been dedicated to research with the application of bacteriophages for the control of human and animal pathogens resistant to antibiotics, being the researcher responsible for this line of research at the INEOS institute located at the University of Oxford and at the Alerta laboratory of the Federal University of São Paulo.
