Nathan Gomes is a joint PhD student in Aesthetics and Art History at the Universidade de São Paulo and in History and Civilizations at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, Paris. His research focuses on the intersection between gender relations and citizenship in South American visual culture during wartime (1864-1880). He holds a Master's degree in Brazilian Studies from Universidade de São Paulo and a Bachelor's in Art History from Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.
