Holds a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from the University of Western Santa Catarina (2011), a specialization in Exercise Physiology from Gama Filho University (2013), and a Master's degree in Physiological Sciences from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC 2016). He earned a Ph.D. in Physiological Sciences from UFSC (2020), under the supervision of Dr. Everson A. Nunes, with research internships abroad: at the University of Guelph, Canada (2018/2019 and 2019/2020), under the supervision of Dr. Graham Holloway, and at Université Paris-Sud, France (2019), under the supervision of Dr. Mathias Mericskay. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Biochemistry and Tissue Biology at the Institute of Biology of the University of Campinas (Unicamp 2020), under the supervision of Dr. Marcelo Mori, with an exchange period at Ludwig-Maximilians Universität in Munich, under the guidance of Dr. Alexander Bartelt. After returning to Canada to conduct research in Dr. Graham Holloways lab, he was hired as a researcher at the Karolinska Institute. His main research interests include: metabolism and bioenergetics, mitochondrial physiology, obesity and insulin resistance, white and brown adipose tissue, reactive oxygen species and redox balance, exercise physiology, and the role of the immune system in skeletal muscle repair.
