Graduated in Physiotherapy from the University of Taubaté (2003).Specialized in Gerontology at the Federal University of São Paulo - Paulista School of Medicine (UNIFESP - EPM / 2004).Completed a Master's in Rehabilitation (UNIFESP - EPM / 2007) and a PhD in Public Health from the Department of Epidemiology at the School of Public Health, USP (2013), with a sandwich internship at the Sealy Center on Aging at the University of Texas Medical Branch (USA).Completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at University College London (UK) from 2016 to 2017 and also during the year 2022.Holds a Specialist title in Physiotherapy in Gerontology from the Brazilian Association of Physiotherapy in Gerontology (ABRAFIGE) and in Gerontology from the Brazilian Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology (SBGG), having been a board member of ABRAFIGE since its inception in 2017 and of the São Paulo Section of SBGG from 2012 to 2020.Served as President of the Gerontology Department of SBGG-SP from 2018 to 2020 and as Scientific Director of ABRAFIGE from 2017 to 2021.Was a member of the Technical Chamber of Physiotherapy in Gerontology within CREFITO-3.Served as Multi-Campus Coordinator for Post-Graduate Programs at the Pro-Rectorate of Post-Graduate Studies at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) from 2018 to 2021.Currently is a Faculty Member in the Gerontology Course and Permanent Advisor of the Post-Graduate Programs in Physiotherapy (CAPES Rating 7) and Gerontology (CAPES Rating 4) at UFSCar.Is a Productivity Research Fellow at CNPq - Level 2. Is serving a second term as President of ABRAFIGE (2021/2023 and 2023/2025) as well as a representative of the Latin American Committee on Geriatrics and Gerontology (COMLAT) in the Global Social Initiative on Aging (GSIA) affiliated with the International Association for Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) since 2018.Leads the Research Group in Epidemiology and Aging - GEPEN - based at the Department of Gerontology at UFSCar, where he coordinates the International Collaboration of Longitudinal Studies of Ageing (InterCoLAgeing), a consortium of longitudinal studies involving the ELSA Study (English Longitudinal Study of Aging), the MHAS Study (Mexican Health and Aging Study), and the ELSI Study (Longitudinal Study of Health and Well-Being of Brazilian Elderly), all of which are multi-cohort longitudinal studies.Has experience in the fields of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Gerontology, and Physiotherapy.Mainly works on topics related to aging, musculoskeletal aging, sarcopenia, dynapenia, muscle strength, mobility, frailty syndrome, functional disability, obesity, cognitive decline, diabetes, vitamin D, mortality, and generalized linear mixed models.
