Birthplace: Brazil

Professor affiliated with the Department of Biochemistry and Immunology at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School, University of São Paulo (FMRP/USP), under a Full-Time Dedication to Teaching and Research (RDIDP) regime. He holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC-MG) in 2009 and completed his master's (2011) and doctorate (2014) in the Laboratory of Immunopathology under the supervision of Prof. Ricardo Gazzinelli, at the Department of Biochemistry and Immunology of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Part of his masters research was conducted in the laboratory of Prof. Douglas Golenbock in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, USA.In January 2015, he joined the Laboratory of Cellular Interactions and Immune Imaging, led by Prof. Wolfgang Kastenmüller, as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Experimental Immunology of the University of Bonn and later at the Max Planck Research Group / Systems Immunology Institute, associated with the University of Würzburg, Germany. In September 2020, he began a second postdoctoral training period at the Laboratory of Innate Immunity and Bacterial Pathogenicity, led by Prof. Dario Zamboni, in the Department of Cell Biology at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School, USP.In August 2022, he was hired as a Senior Scientist to lead a basic and translational research group at Amgen Incorporated, one of the largest biotechnology companies in the world, headquartered in California, USA. In November 2024, he was appointed as a Professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Immunology of the Ribeirão Preto Medical School (FMRP-USP) through a public examination process. His expertise spans various topics in the field of cellular and molecular biology associated with innate and adaptive immune responses, with several high-impact publications. His current research includes studies on the fundamental biology of CD8+ T cells, tissue biology of the colon in the context of autoimmune diseases, the immunobiology of myeloid cells and intestinal resident T cells, and the immunobiology of T cells in cardiovascular diseases. He is an expert in advanced technologies such as scRNA-seq, intravital and confocal microscopy, and spectral cytometry. His career highlights his ability to integrate innovative approaches to understand complex mechanisms in immunology and develop translational therapeutic strategies. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
