I am a biologist, physiologist, and herpetologist exploring the interrelationships between stress, behavior and immunity. Graduated in Biological Sciences - Licentiate, by the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (Unesp - 2007), Master in Sciences (General Physiology) by the University of São Paulo (USP - 2010). Ph.D. in Sciences (General Physiology) from the University of São Paulo (USP - 2015). Post-Doctor at the University of São Paulo (USP - 2020). Experience in Physiology, with emphasis on Comparative Physiology, mainly on the following topics: Ecoimmunology, Stress, Endocrinology, Conservation, Behavior, Reproduction, and Immunity. I use different approaches, such as transdermal application of corticosterone, to simulate changes related to increased corticosterone in events of acute stress, restraint challenge, and immunological challenges (e.g., LPS and PHA injections). To measure the immune response, I use cellular (e.g., phagocytosis) and humoral (e.g., complement system proteins, natural antibodies, and cytokines) variables; and to measure stress, I use endocrine (e.g., plasma corticosterone and testosterone levels) and cellular (e.g., neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio) markers.
