Alvaro de Farias Soares

Doctor of Science (Electrical Engineering) from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (2023). Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) (2019) and in Interdisciplinary Studies in Marine Science and Technology (2016), from the same institution. Currently, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Physics and Chemistry at the University of Palermo. Has experience in the study of luminescent properties of materials, using Thermoluminescence (TL), Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL), photoluminescence (PL) and radiofluorescence techniques, as well as paramagnetic defects by Electron Spin Resonance (ESR), and experience in material characterisation using X-ray Diffraction (XRD), electron microscopy and spectroscopy techniques. Beyond characterisation, has interests in the use of TL, OSL and ESR techniques for applications in ionising radiation dosimetry and dating. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
