Thereza A. Soares received her bachelor degree in Biological Sciences from the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (1994). Subsequently she pursued graduate studies in Chemistry, earning her Masters degree from the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (1996) and Doctorate in an exchange program of the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco and The Scrippst Research Institute (2004). During the exchange program she held visiting scholarships at the group of Prof. James Briggs at the University of Houston and at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. In 2001 she moved to Switzerland to undertake her post-doctoral training at the groups of Prof. Wilfred van Gunsteren in the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich - ETH (2001-2004) and Prof. Kai Johnsson in the École Politecnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) (2005). Since October 2005 she has been a research scientist at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, WA, USA. Prof. Soares? major research interest is in the application of computational chemistry methodologies, in particular molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, with the aim of understanding biomolecular phenomena or processes, or in order to help interpret experimental observations. Her current research work deals with atomistic simulations of lipopolysaccharides membranes/outer membranes proteins. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
