Bachelor's at Fakulteit Toegepaste Wetenschappen from Rijksuniversiteit te Gent (1981), master's at Fakulteit Toegepaste Wetenschappen from Rijksuniversiteit te Gent (1981) and doctorate at Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics from University Of Texas At Austin (1987). Is full professor at the State University of Campinas in the Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urbanism department. Has experience in the field of numerical simulation with finite elements applied to problems of solid and fluid mechanics. Has been developing joint projects with the industry, specifically, with the Oil and Aeronautic industries. Develops as main project an object oriented library for finite elements calculations called NeoPZ. This library implements the capability to simulate in one, two and three dimensions, has HP adaptivity and different approximation spaces, as H1, discontinuous and HDiv can be used.
