Raquel Almeida Mendes

PhD candidate in Geography at the Institute of Geosciences of the State University of Campinas (IG/UNICAMP) and Visiting Research Fellow at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (USA), with funding from the São Paulo State Research Foundation (FAPESP). She completed a doctoral internship under the Santander International Mobility Program - DERI UNICAMP (n 032/2022) at the Department of Pedagogical Studies of the Universidad de Chile (DEP-UChile) and also, during the same period, developed academic activities at the Department of History and Geography of the Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación (UMCE). She has a master's degree in Geography from the Institute of Socio-Environmental Studies of the Universidade Federal de Goiás (IESA-UFG), in the line of Geography teaching and learning, as a CAPES-DS scholarship holder; a specialization in Geography Teaching from the Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA) and in Teaching for Professional and Technological Education from the Instituto Federal do Espírito Santo (IFES); and a degree in Geography from the Universidade Federal do Tocantins (UFT), where she was a teaching initiation scholarship holder (PIBID). She is currently a member of the Gender, Ethnic-Racial and Spatiality Studies Laboratory (LAGENTE/UFG) and the Geography Teaching Research and Practice Workshop (APEGEO/UNICAMP), as well as taking part in the Space and Difference (LAGENTE/UFG) and TEAR: Study and Research Group on Curriculum, Educational Policies and the History of School Geography (APEGEO/UNICAMP) study groups. She is also a member of the National Network of Black Geographers and of the American Association of Geographers (AAG).
