Teresa Ludermir is a Full Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Center for Informatics of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) since 2007 and a Research Productivity Fellow since 1992, currently holding a PQ 1A level since 2012. She is a Member of the National Order of Scientific Merit (Class: Commander), a Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and The Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA), a Senior Member of both IEEE and the International Neural Network Society (INNS), and a Member of the Pernambuco Academy of Sciences.She has received numerous scientific awards, including the CONFAP Award Distinguished Researcher in Exact Sciences, the Scientific Merit Award from the Brazilian Computer Society, and awards from the Special Committees on Neural Networks and Artificial Intelligence.She holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Science and a Masters in Artificial Intelligence from UFPE, and a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine University of London.She has extensive experience in scientific and academic management, having held numerous positions, including: UN Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence, Director of Graduate Studies at UFPE (20152019),Associate Coordinator at CAPES since 2022,Member of the CNPq Computer Science Advisory Committee (20052008, 20152017, 20202023; serving as committee chair for two terms),Member of the CAPES Computer Science Advisory Committee (20162017, 20212022)Graduate Program Coordinator (19982001),Member of the Exact Sciences Chamber of FACEPE (20032006),Chair of the SBC Neural Networks Committee (19961997, 20022004, 20102012),Member of the UK Expert Advisory Panel of the State of Science Report for risks associated with frontier AI,Member of the Board of Governors of the International Neural Network Society (20152017, 20192021),Member of the IEEE Awards Board (20172022), among others.She served as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Computational Intelligence and Applications (20042012), and as Associate Editor of several scientific journals such as IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems (20182022) and Neural Networks (20202022).She has published over 90 articles in peer-reviewed journals and over 300 full papers in conference proceedings. She has authored 28 book chapters and 5 books. Her Google Scholar h-index is 50, with 11,195 citations. She has supervised more than 40 masters theses and 25 doctoral dissertations.Since 1991, she has participated in over 50 funded research projects, coordinating more than 30 of them, including several international cooperation projects. She is the Coordinator of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Artificial Intelligence (INCT IA), funded by CNPq, and the Director of the Applied Research Center in Artificial Intelligence for Cybersecurity, established under the FAPESP-MCTIC/CGI Scientific and Technological Cooperation Agreement.She has been actively involved in organizing and serving on program committees of the most prominent national and international conferences on neural networks and computational intelligence, as well as on editorial boards of leading journals.She has served as a visiting professor and/or researcher at institutions such as Imperial College London, Kings College London, INRIA Paris-Rocquencourt, Université dOrléans, and the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics in Berlin.She is also a Member of the Council for Sustainable Economic and Social Development of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil, and a Member of the Advisory Board of the Interministerial Committee for Digital Transformation.
