Dr. Eduardo Rego graduated in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto at the University of São Paulo (USP) in 1988 and obtained his doctorate from the same institution in 1997. He then did his post-doctorate at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York (1998-2001) in the laboratory of Dr. Pier Paolo Pandolfi and published several works on the molecular bases of acute promyelocytic leukemia, with emphasis on his articles in the journals PNAS (2000); J Exp Med (2001), Science (2003) and Nature (2008). He was approved in the competition for Full Professor at FMRP-USP in 2010, where he worked until 2018. He is currently Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of USP (FM-USP), Coordinator of the Acute Leukemia Service at the Cancer Institute of the State of São Paulo (ICESP) and coordenates the Hematology Services of Rede D'Or and is a Researcher at the D'Or Institute for Research and Education (IDOR). His areas of interest are hematological neoplasms, with special emphasis on the study of pathophysiology and the development of new treatment strategies for acute leukemias. He was one of the founding members of the International Acute Leukemia Consortium (ICAL) of the American Society of Hematology, which develops studies clinical and translational studies on acute leukemias. The Prof. Rego was the President of the International Membership Committee of the American Society of Hematology (2020-2024) and is the Vice President of the Brazilian Association of Hematology and Hemotherapy. He is the Senior Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research and Editor of the Hematology, Transfusion and Cell Therapy Journal (HTCT) and Associate Editor of the Annals of Hematology.
