Victor Uehara Kanashiro, also known as Victor Kinjo, is a singer, composer, researcher and cultural producer. PhD in Social Sciences and master in Sociology from the University of Campinas, bachelor in Social Sciences from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo and in Economics from the University of São Paulo, he was a visiting researcher at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts and Okinawa International University, with the support of São Paulo Research Foundation and Japan Foundation Research Fellowship. Nominated for the 2018 Brazilian Music Awards as Best Singer (regional) and for the 2022 POC Awards as an LGBTQIAP+ highlight in Brazilian Music, he released the albums KINJO (2017) and Terráqueos (2022), and the singles Flores para o Coração da Gente (2019), Carne e Coragem (2020), and Canto pela Paz (2024), by YB Music, and published several articles and book chapters on sustainability, music, literature, performing arts and river regeneration, among other topics, from a transdisciplinary perspective. He is the co-founder of the cultural production company Água Viva Cultura e Sustentabilidade and the Sítio SAMAUMA Ponto de Cultura, located in the rural area of Mogi das Cruzes, where he implements a project of restoration of the Atlantic Forest at Serra do Mar. Working in the fields of music, arts-based action research, cultural studies, Okinawan Studies and socio-environmental regeneration, the artist-researcher is currently the coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Working Group on Arts and Planetary Health, based at the Institute of Advanced Studies at USP.
