RESEARCHER PROFILE AND ACADEMIC TRAJECTORYAcademic Background and Institutional Leadership The proponent holds a DDS degree (1987) and an MSc in Endodontics from the University of São Paulo (FOB-USP, 1992). He earned his PhD (1996) and Habilitation (Livre-Docência, 2001) from Araraquara Dental School (FOAr-UNESP), where he has been a faculty member since 1992 and a Full Professor of Endodontics since 2010. He is a primary investigator and advisor in the Graduate Program in Dentistry (MSc/PhD) at the same institution. A CNPq Research Productivity Fellow (Level 1B), he has maintained an uninterrupted trajectory within the system since 1998.Human Resources and Research Funding Over three decades, he has shown an outstanding commitment to training researchers, having supervised 22 PhD dissertations, 27 Masters theses, and 74 Undergraduate Research (IC) projects with funding from FAPESP and CNPq. As a CNPq Research Group Leader, he has coordinated 15 FAPESP grants, including recent innovation-driven projects (Grant #21/11496-3). His mentorship track record includes 40 completed domestic scholarships and 4 international scholarships, with 3 ongoing domestic research grants.Scientific Production and Impact Metrics His scientific production comprises over 400 published articles, with a high recent concentration (161 papers in the last 10 years; 80 in the last 5 years), 1 book, and 29 chapters. He has 279 articles indexed in PubMed. His impact metrics are: h-index = 52 (Scopus), ResearchID = 41, and Google Scholar = 74. He currently serves as Associate Editor for Brazilian Oral Research and is the former Vice-President of the Brazilian Society of Endodontics (SBEndo).Scientific Contribution and Innovation The research group focuses on the development and application of endodontic techniques and materials, emphasizing calcium silicate-based materials and biomaterials to enhance the physicochemical, biological, and antimicrobial properties of repair cements, sealers, and intracanal medications. Current research lines focus on disruptive approaches, such as dentin pretreatment with biomaterials and the development of bioactive gutta-percha. These studies aim to generate products and patents for the dental industry, increasing clinical success rates and promoting apical/periapical repair.Global Engagement He maintains consolidated international collaborations with centers of excellence in the United States, Belgium, United Kingdom, and Costa Rica. He also serves as an ad hoc reviewer for major funding agencies and the world's leading journals in the field.KEY HIGHLIGHTS AND INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITIONInternational Rankings:World's Top 2 Scientists: Included in the Stanford University/Elsevier list of the world's most influential scientists (Top 2 worldwide) in the 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 editions.Top 30 Global Authors in Micro-CT: Recognized among the top 30 worldwide authors in micro-CT research in Endodontics over a 25-year period (Aksoy et al., Int Endod J, 2021).Top 25 Most Productive Authors in IEJ History: Ranked among the 25 most productive authors in the 50-year history of the International Endodontic Journal (1967-2020) (Khan et al., Int Endod J, 2021).Innovation and Patents: Focus on developing calcium silicate composites and bioactive biomaterials (Bioactive Glass F18, Biosilicate, Tricalcium Silicate) for next-generation filling systems and intracanal medications.Scientific Leadership: Associate Editor of high-impact journals and leadership roles in national scientific societies, with a direct impact on the formulation and validation of new dental materials.Global Integration: Research stays and joint publications with high-impact international groups (e.g., KU Leuven), reinforcing the vanguard nature of the methodologies applied, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Micro-CT.
