Licentiate and Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences at Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2005/2006). Master's and Doctorate degree in Genetics studying the genetic variability and evolution of Hepatitis C virus (HCV). Worked as a Visiting Scientist during a sandwich doctorate at Saint Louis University - St. Louis - MO - USA. Currently is a Post-doctoral fellow at the Genomic Studies Laboratory and a Professor at the Microbiology Post-graduation Program (UNESP-IBILCE). Is involved in several projects focusing in the study of arbovirus. Among the current projects are the investigation of arbovirus in sylvatic animals, ticks and equines. Also, is involved in projects that study the circulation of arbovirus in symptomatic and asymptomatic humans; investigation of the therapeutic potential of compounds in the inhibition of Zika virus (ZIKV) and Chikungunya virus (CHIKV); and viral genetic variability (HCV, arbovirus, Coronavirus and HPV). During the COVID-19 pandemic is acting in diagnostic molecular testing of SARS-CoV-2 and research projects involving this virus. Areas of expertise: arbovirus, viral genetic variability, antiviral compounds.
