Bachelor in Biological Sciences (1994) from the São Paulo State University ''Júlio de Mesquita Filho'' (UNESP), Master (1997) and Doctor (2001) in Cellular and Structural Biology from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Postdoctoral (2003) in Prostate Biology from the São Paulo State University ''Júlio de Mesquita Filho'' (UNESP) and Postdoctoral (2014) in Prostate Cancer Biology at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. He is currently Full Professor of Histology (2022) at UNESP, at the Department of Structural and Functional Biology at the Botucatu Institute of Biosciences, and is a Technical Advisor to the Cabinet of the Dean of Research. He served as Head of Department for 2 terms. He teaches Histology classes for undergraduate courses in Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences. He develops Postgraduate activities in the Cellular and Structural Biology Programs at the Institute of Biology at UNICAMP and General and Applied Biology at the Botucatu Institute of Biosciences, where he teaches the discipline of Animal Extracellular Matrix. He has experience in the field of Morphology, with an emphasis on Biology of the Extracellular Matrix, Biology of Reproduction and Prostate Cancer. He works more specifically on the themes: prostate biology; tendon, cartilage, bones and ligaments; distribution and organization of extracellular matrix components in different tissues and organs. Ongoing projects address: the effects of fetal programming by protein restriction on prostate morphogenesis in rats; androgen, neuroendocrine, adiponectin, oxidative stress and collagen signaling pathways in prostatic tumor progression, using cell culture, transgenic mice and bioinformatics analysis in public omics databases. He has been a CNPq Research Productivity Scholar since 2009. Coordinates an extension project for the production of teaching slides for Cell Biology and Histology subjects.
