Degree in Biological sciences from the Biosciences Institute (1983), Master's in Hydraulic Engineering and Sanitation from the University of São Paulo (1990) and PhD in Hydraulic Engineering and Sanitation from the University of São Paulo (1997). Associate Professor (MS5.3) at the Department of Hydraulics and Sanitation at the School of Engineering of São Carlos, University of São Paulo. Has experience in the area of Applied Microbiology to Environmental Sanitation. Developments researchs in the microbiology area of anaerobic wastewater and sewage treatment processes related to the removal and degradation of surfactants (LAS, LAE, nonylphenol, etc.) and micropollutants (drugs and sweeteners) in fluidized bed reactors, leachate and anaerobic expanded bed reactor (EGSB). It also operates in the application of the anaerobic biorefinery concept to wastewater treatment plants in the citrus industry, coffee, brewery, swine and sugar/alcohol in co-digestion with solid citrus residues, coffee, malt, filter cake and bagasse. sugarcane in batch, EGSB and leached bed reactors, in order to obtain hydrogen, methane and organic acids. In all treatment processes, the taxonomic and functional characterization of microorganisms (bacteria, methanogenic archaea and fungi) is carried out using molecular biology techniques. Biological, physical and chemical pre-treatments are used to destructure the fibers of lignocellulosic material from solid waste. Coordinator of the Environmental Engineering CoC of the School of Engineering of São Carlos (EESC) of the University of São Paulo (USP) from May 6, 2011 to August 3, 2013. From August 4, 2013 to August 3 Since 2017, she was coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Hydraulics and Sanitation at EESC-USP (NOTE 7 CAPES). From October 1, 2014 to June 30, 2017, she was a member of the Advisory Committee for Engineering and Environmental Sciences, Sanitary and Environmental Engineering Sub-Area. From March 1, 2017 to February 2019, she was Deputy Head of the Hydraulics and Sanitation Department at EESC-USP. From March 2019 to February 2023, she was Head of the Hydraulics and Sanitation Department at EESC-USP. Associate Professor at the University of São Paulo in the area of knowledge in microbiology of anaerobic processes (2013) starting to exercise the role of Prof. Assoc MS 5.1 until 2021. She is currently an Associate Professor at the University of São Paulo in the role of MS 5.3. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
