Anderson M. Rodrigues, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Medical Mycology in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Parasitology (DMIP) at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). His work is centered around the study of emerging infectious fungal diseases, developing and integrating innovative epidemiological and diagnostics approaches as well as host-pathogen models to advance human health. Dr. Rodrigues received his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the Federal University of São Paulo, São Paulo (2015) under the mentorship of Dr. Zoilo Pires de Camargo. The Ph.D. thesis "Emerging pathogens in the genus Sporothrix and global evolution of pathogenicity" demonstrated the emergence of sporotrichosis under different perspectives including the epidemiological scenario, the molecular and serological diagnosis, and the influence of the pathogen-host-environment interplay in the evolution of the disease. He was honored with three national awards including the Grand Prize CAPES in Natural Sciences (Nise da Silveira) awarded by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and the Conrado Wessel Foundation (CWF) to best thesis in Brazil (Natural Science); the best Biological Science Thesis Prize (Microbiology, Immunology, and Parasitology) awarded by CAPES (2016), and Capes-Interfarma Prize for Innovation and Research (2016) awarded by CAPES and the Association of the Pharmaceutical Research Industry (Interfarma).
