Anderson M. Rodrigues holds the position of Adjunct Professor of Medical Mycology in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Parasitology (DMIP) at the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp). His research focuses on the study of emerging fungal diseases, where he develops and integrates innovative epidemiological and diagnostic approaches. Additionally, he employs pathogen-host models to contribute to significant advancements in promoting human health. The researcher obtained his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the Federal University of São Paulo in 2015. His thesis, titled "Emerging Pathogens in the Genus Sporothrix and the Global Evolution of Pathogenicity," addressed the emergence of sporotrichosis from multiple perspectives, including epidemiological analyses, molecular and serological diagnostics, and the influence of the interaction between pathogen, host, and environment on disease evolution. This study received national recognition through three prominent awards: the Grand CAPES Prize for Thesis in Natural Sciences (Nise da Silveira Prize), awarded by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and the Conrado Wessel Foundation (FCW); the CAPES Prize for Thesis in Biological Sciences III (Microbiology, Immunology, and Parasitology); and the CAPES-Interfarma Innovation and Research Prize (2016), granted by CAPES and the Interfarma Pharmaceutical Research Association. Currently, Dr. Rodrigues is a CNPq Productivity Research Fellow (2020-Present) and serves as Head of the Cell Biology Division in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Parasitology at EPM-Unifesp. Additionally, he acts as Head of the Laboratory of Emerging Fungal Pathogens (2017-Present) and leads the research group "Molecular Epidemiology, Evolution, and Diagnosis of Emerging Fungal Pathogens" at EPM-Unifesp.
