Bachelor degree in Biological Sciences and Master degree in Biosciences and Biotechnology granted at Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro and PhD in Sciences granted at Department of Biochemistry of the Institute of Chemistry at USP. with a sandwich period at Mass General Hospital/Harvard Medical School/Boston/MA. He has eight years of postdoctoral research in the REDOX field at the Institute of Biosciences of USP, where he developed projects linked to the CEPID REDOXOMA group. He is currently Associate Professor at the Laboratory of Physiology and Biochemistry of Microorganisms, where he leads the REDOX MICROBIOLOGY group at UENF. The lab is committed to understand biochemical and evolutionary aspects of thiol peroxidases present in bacteria and fungi. It is also committed to research how these proteins act in bacterial and fungal physiology, especially in the context of the interaction with the environment and/or its hosts.
