She graduated at Ciências Biológicas at Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1984), MSc and PhD at Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1989, 1993), Pos-doctorate at ESALQ/USP and University of Sheffield on Yeast Molecular Genetics. Her expertise is on Industrial Microbiology, focusing on ethanolic fermentation, yeasts, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, killer yeasts, contaminants and antimicrobials. She is Full Professor at Universidade Federal de São Carlos, Centro de Ciências Agrárias, Dept Tecnologia Agroindustrial and Coordinator of the Post-Graduation Course on Plant Production and Associate Bioprocesses.
