He graduated in Industrial Chemistry from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2002) and carried out stage in the company Synteko Chemical Products SA (2002) in the development of phenolic, ureic and melaminic thermosetting resins. Masters degree at the same institution (2005) under the guidance of Prof. Eduardo Rolim de Oliveira. In 2005, he worked in the laboratory of Professor Richard Larock at Iowa State University (USA) with reactions involving arynes. Between 2006 and 2007 at Unicamp, he participated in a project about interferon bioconjugation under the supervision of Professor Maria Helena Andrade Santana and in collaboration with the pharmaceutical company Blausiegel. He is Doctor of Science (2013) from Unicamp under guidance of Professor Carlos Roque Duarte Correia. In the period 2014-2015, he held postdoc in the lab of Professor Varinder K. Aggarwal at the University of Bristol developing strategies for polyketide synthesis. He has experience in medicinal chemistry with a focus on neglected diseases, having worked in the Professor Luiz Carlos Dias' Group (2013) in partnership with Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) and currently, in the same group with the Drugs for Neglected Disease Initiative sinthesizing prototypes against leishmaniasis and Chagas disease . This proposal intend to prepare nitrogenated heterocycles 2,3-disubstituted with syn stereochemistry through Petasis reaction using N-acyliminium ions generated in situ from lactams. This proposal has either the objective to sinthesize stereoselectively alkaloids with farmacological interest.
