Graduated in Biological Sciences - Medical emphasis in IBB (Biosciences Institute of Botucatu) - UNESP (Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho) - Campus Botucatu (2009). He had his master degree in the Biological Sciences with emphasis in Genetics (2012). In 2017, he obtained a co-tutela PhD degree in Biological Sciences with emphasis in Genetics (IBB-UNESP) and in Biotechnology (Facultat de Farmacia, Universitat Barcelona). Since 2007, he works in the Structural Molecular Biology in the Departament of Physics and Biophysics under supervision of Prof. Marcos Fontes, where he works with snake venom purification, x-ray crystallography, docking, molecular dynamics, Small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), circular dichroism (CD), dynamic light scattering (DLS). In 2016, he started a collaboration with Dr. Isabel Usón from Barcelona in the development of methods to aid crystallographic structure elucidation. He is the developer of the software SEQUENCE SLIDER, that pushed the limits of ARCIMBOLDO, the ab initio macromolecule phasing method of Dr. Usón, to larger structures and lower resolution datasets. SLIDER improves ARCIMBOLDO or Molecular Replacement (MR) partial solution by assembling different sequence hypotheses (modeling side chains) and pushing it through refinement, improvement in phases allow SHELXE autotracing to reveal rest of the structure. During the last few years, he spent 4 months in Dr. George Sheldrick laboratory in University of Goettingen (Germany), where he learnt to use the SHELX package, and 6 months in Dr. Randy Read laboratory in Cambridge University (United Kingdom), where he improved his knowledge about MR, software PHASER and statistics. Now, he is a Post-doctoral researcher under supervision of Prof. Marcos Fontes and Dr. Usón with FAPESP scholarship, integrating cryoelectron microscopy and electron diffraction in ARCIMBOLDO and developing SLIDER applied to natural compounds.
