In research, coordinates and integrates Brazilian or international teams working on public health issues through epidemiological and human rights approaches. Main research themes are: children?s and adolescents? health, HIV/AIDS epidemics, and also physical/sexual violence related to gender inequalities. He has been increasingly involved in research and teaching in the field of scientific information and communication. Also, serves as senior editor of the journal Global Public Health.
