Associate Professor (Free Lecturer in Biochemistry) at São Paulo State University "Júlio de Mesquita Filho," Department of Chemistry and Environmental Sciences, São José do Rio Preto Campus, SP. Holds a degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry (Clinical Analysis Option) from the Federal University of Santa Maria (1984), Master's degree in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1989), and Doctorate in Sciences (Genetics and Molecular Biology) from the State University of Campinas (1992).During the doctorate, held a 14-month CAPES-sponsored sandwich scholarship at Duke University Marine Laboratory in Beaufort, NC, USA, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Joseph Bonaventura (10/1990 to 12/1991). Has a postdoctoral degree in Molecular Biophysics (UNESP, SJRP) under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Marcio F. Colombo (1993-1996), and an overseas postdoctoral degree (CAPES) in Enzymology with Prof. Dr. Enrico Di Cera (Washington University and Saint Louis University, St. Louis, MO, USA, from 7/2009 to 6/2010).Has expertise in the field of Proteins, being involved in research related to enzymes with potential industrial use. Also conducts isolation and characterization of hydrolytic enzymes from thermophilic and mesophilic fungi (proteases, lipases, beta-glucosidases, endoglucanases, xylanases, pectinases). Previously experienced with animal hemoglobins (fish and reptiles) and biomonitoring. Participated in the Waste Management Program at UNESP. Advises in the stricto sensu Postgraduate Program (Master's and Doctorate) in Microbiology at the Institute, where they were the Coordinator from 6/2017 to 5/2019 and currently hold the position of Vice-Coordinator. Served as alternate member of the Board of Trustees of FAPERP (Foundation for Research and Extension Support of São José do Rio Preto) during 2018-2019.
