Associate Professor of Biochemistry of the Universidade Estadual Paulista "Julio de Mesquita Filho", Campus of São José do Rio Preto SP. Graduated in Pharmacy and Biochemistry (Option Clinical Analysis) from the Federal University of Santa Maria (1984), Master in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry) from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1989) and Doctor of Science (Genetics and Molecular Biology) by the State University of Campinas (1992). During the doctorate worked for 14 months at the Duke University Marine Laboratory in Beaufort, NC, USA, under supervision of Dr. Joseph Bonaventura. Has a postdoctoral in Molecular Biophysics (UNESP, SJRP) under supervision of Prof. Dr. Marcio F. Colombo, and was granted with a postdoctoral fellowship (CAPES) working in Enzymology with Prof. Dr. Enrico Di Cera (Washington University and Saint Louis University, St. Louis, MO, USA 7 / 2009-6 / 2010). Has experience with proteins, being presently involved in research in the area of ​​enzymes with industrial potential, making also isolation and characterization of hydrolytic enzymes of thermophilic and mesophilic fungi (proteases, lipases, glycoside hydrolases, endoglucanases, xylanases, pectinases). It also has previous experience with animal hemoglobins (fish and reptiles) and biomonitoring. Participated in the UNESP Waste Management Program. Also supervises Master and PhD projects in the graduate course of Microbiology. Is part of the team of the Associated Laboratory of the Bioenergy Research Institute (IPBEN).
