Keity Souza Santos

I am a Professor and PhD at the USP School of Medicine, Department of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. I lead a research group focused on molecular allergology. My research projects aim to identify novel Brazilian allergens from food, insect venoms, and aeroallergens to enhance allergy diagnosis. I also investigate the development of hypoallergenic extracts and molecules for use in allergen-specific immunotherapy. I collaborate closely with the clinical allergy team at HCFMUSP, fostering a "bench to bedside and back" approach. Since 2020, I have led and participated in research evaluating the humoral response to SARS-CoV-2, including the epitope profile recognition against different antibodies isotypes. I am a Principal Investigator on a research team developing a nasal spray vaccine for COVID-19. I completed postdoctoral studies at FMUSP in allergy (2010) and at the University of Salzburg - Austria (2011) at the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Treatment and Diagnosis of Allergy. I hold a PhD in Allergy and Immunopathology from FMUSP. I graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP/Rio Claro - 2003). I am the Vice-coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Allergy and Immunopathology at FMUSP. I am a member of the WHO/IUIS subcommittee for allergen nomenclature. I am a reviewer for the Ethics Committee for Analysis of Research Projects (CAPPesq), responsible for evaluating studies involving human participants within the academic system comprising the University of São Paulo School of Medicine and Hospital das Clínicas (FMUSP-HC System), a CONEP-accredited ethics committee. I am an Associate editor of Frontiers in Allergy. Member of the allergen committee of ASBAI (Brazilian Association of Allergy and Immunology).
