Has experience in the area of (bio)sensors and biomimetic sensors based on phthalocyanine and porphyrin complexes, and molecular imprinted polymers (MIP), nanostructured materials (carbon nanotubes, nanodiamonds, graphene, quantum dots, biochar and carbon black), macrocyclic compounds, ionic liquids, quantum dots and metallic nanoparticles (copper, gold, iron, nickel and silver among others). He was part of the most cited researchers in the survey of the second most influential scientists in the world ranking in the year 2022 and 2023 in the data update for "Updated science-wide author databases of standard citation Indicators" (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
