Graduated in Medicine in 1989. Residency in Internal Medicine at Hospital das Clínicas e Cardiology at Instituto do Coração (InCor) of FMUSP (1990-1992). Doctorate in Cardiology from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (1999) and Full Professor in Cardiology from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (2005). Associate Professor (MS-3) at the Faculty of Medicine of USP, Department of Cardiopneumology. He is currently Director of the Clinical Unit of Cardiac Transplantation at Instituto do Coração (InCor) at Hospital das Clínicas, Faculty of Medicine of USP and Professor of Internal Medicine at Faculdade Israelita de Ciencias da Saúde Albert Einstein. He has experience in the field of Medicine, with an emphasis on Cardiology, working mainly on the following topics: heart failure, cardiomyopathies, myocarditis, heart transplantation, Chagas disease, graft vascular disease after transplantation, rejection and immunosuppression. He was Editor-in-Chief of the Brazilian Archives of Cardiology in 2008-2009, President of the Department of Heart Failure of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (SBC) in 2010-2011 and Research Director of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (SBC) in 2012-2013 / 2018 -2019. He is currently Scientific Director of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (2020-2021) and member of the Technical Chambers of the Regional Council of Medicine-SP, State Health Department (Heart Transplantation) and of the National Transplantation System (SNT).
