Laís Forti Thomaz is the Chief of Staff at the National Secretariat of Oil, Gas, and Biofuels (SNPGB) in the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME). She represents the MME in the Fuels Task Group (FTG) of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and is a member of the Steering Committee of the National Hydrogen Program (PNH2). She holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from UNESP, with an exchange program at ISCTE, Lisbon (Santander Scholarship). She participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) by the U.S. Department of State. She is a specialist in Lobbying, having completed a course at the Public Affairs and Advocacy Institute in Washington, D.C., and the European Public Affairs and Advocacy Institute in Brussels, both affiliated with American University. She earned a Master's and Ph.D. in International Relations from the Graduate Program in International Relations (PPGRI) San Tiago Dantas - Unesp, Unicamp, and PUC-SP, with a research fellowship at Georgetown University (BEPE/Fapesp). In the same Graduate program, she carried out Post-Doctoral research with two fellowships: PNPD Capes (2017) and PDJ from CNPq (2017/2018). She completed a second Post-Doctorate in the Department of Latin American Studies at the Social Sciences - Comparative Studies on the Americas Program (PPGECsA) at the University of Brasília (UnB) (2021-2022). She also attended a summer course promoted by the Confucius Institute at UNESP on Mandarin and Chinese Culture at Hubei University, China. She is an Adjunct Professor at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), affiliated with the International Relations course and the Graduate Program in Political Science and International Relations (PPGCPRI). She served as the Secretary of International Relations at UFG from 2022 to 2024. She is a researcher at the Brazilian Network for Bio-Jet Fuel and Renewable Hydrocarbons for Aviation (RBQAV), the Global Studies Center (NEG/UFG), the Hydrogen and Sustainable Technologies Excellence Center (CEHTES/UFG), and the TED of the Civil Aviation Secretariat (SAC) of the Ministry of Ports and Airports, in partnership with UFJF. She has worked in the areas of Public Policy and Sustainable Aviation Fuels. She was awarded the Top Etanol Prize in 2011 and the academic prize at the National Ethanol Conference in 2015 in the United States. She is a founding member of the Sergio Vieira de Mello Chair and the Camões Chair at UFG. She is the Coordinator of the Jean Monnet Chair for the European Union at UFG. She was a Civil Society Representative on the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE), linked to the Presidency of the Republic in Brazil. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
