Bacharel em Física pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP) em 1993, obteve mestrado em Tecnologia Nuclear-Materiais pela USP (1996) e doutorado pela mesma instituição em 2001, com estágio sanduíche em 2000 na Université Lille 1 (França) . Foi bolsista FAPESP em dois pós-doutorados: no Instituto de Física da USP (2001 a 2003) e no Forschungszentrum Jülich, Alemanha (2008). Desde 2005 é bolsista de produtividade do CNPq. É tecnologista sênior do Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e Nucleares (IPEN) e gerente do Centro de Células a Combustível e Hidrogênio (CCCH) desde 2013. Tem experiência na área de Ciência de Materiais com ênfase em eletrocerâmicas, atuando principalmente na pesquisa e desenvolvimento de materiais para células a combustível. Participa como pesquisador principal de projeto Temático e em Centro de Pesquisa em Engenharia (CPE), o Research Center for Gas Innovation (RCGI) da Fapesp sobre o uso de etanol e gás natural em células a combustível. Coordena divisão de pesquisa do CPE Fapesp-Shell Center for Innovation on New Energies (CINE). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
