Graduated in Pharmacy-Biochemistry from the University of São Paulo (1986), Master's degree in Psychobiology from the Federal University of São Paulo (1992), and Ph.D. in Psychobiology from the Federal University of São Paulo (1997). Postdoctoral at the Ernest Gallo Clinic and Research Center, University of California, San Francisco. Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of São Paulo, and Head of the Pharmacology Department at ICB-USP since 2021 (Vice-Head from 2018-2021). President of the International Society of Biomedical Research on Alcoholism - ISBRA (2020-2022) and President of the Latin American Society of Biomedical Research on Alcoholism - LASBRA (2008-2013). In 2014, I was elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the International Society of Biomedical Research on Alcoholism - ISBRA, and in 2016, elected as the Junior Vice President of ISBRA (2016-2018), and Senior Vice President of ISBRA (2018-2020). Coordinator of the Coordinating Committee of the Graduate Program (CCP) in the Department of Pharmacology at ICB-USP from 2013 to 2017. Experience in the field of Neuropsychopharmacology, with a focus on the effects of ethanol and cocaine during neurodevelopment, effects of environmental manipulations (enrichment/stress) in animal models of substance use disorders (SUDs), and effects of environmental manipulations in patients with SUDs.
