Gregório Ceccantini has a degree in Biological Sciences from Universidade de São Paulo (1992), Master?s degree (1996) and PhD (2002) in Biological Sciences (Botany) at the Universidade de São Paulo (2002). Post doctoral fellowship (sabbatical- FAPESP) at Harvard University - Holbrook Lab (July 2015- July 2016). Researcher at the Instituto de Pesquisas Tecnológicas do Estado de São Paulo (IPT), acting in anatomy identification and wood technology, also acting as laboratory director at the department of Anatomy and Identification, from 1996 to 1998. Also worked as professor of Plant Anatomy and Morphology at the Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR) from 1998 to 2002. Since the beginning of 2003 up to 2018 assistante professor and Associate professor since 2018 at the Universidade de São Paulo. He has experience in the area of Botany, with emphasis on plant morphology and anatomy, especially on the following themes: plant anatomy, wood anatomy and dendroecology, biology of parasitic plants, paleobotany, paleoethnobotany. During his career he has already received various grants to research on Cambium Activity (Foundação Boticário de Proteção a Natureza 1999 and 2001), Biology of Parasitic Plants (FAPESP 2005-2009, 2014-2016) and Tropical Tree-Rings (CNPq 2010). He has experience as technical consultant in the area of urban trees, archeology and environmental pollution, material and cultural heritage. As an Advisor, has directed or co-directed PhD students (4), Master?s degree students (15) and students writing Course Final Papers (31). Since 2002 is responsible for a collection living of plants of 2 hectares and over 1000 species and also is the curator of a wood collection (SPFw) with more than 4000 records.
