She holds a bachelor's degree in Nursing from the Ribeirão Preto School of Nursing at the University of São Paulo (1991), a master's and doctorate in Public Health from the School of Public Health at the University of São Paulo (2000 and 2005), a post-doctorate from the Population, Family and Reproductive Health Department at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, United States (2013), and a post-doctorate from the School of Nursing at the University of São Paulo (2014), where she is Vice-Director and Full Professor of the Department of Public Health Nursing. She has conducted research in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, with an emphasis on contraception, reproductive intention and preconception health. She is a member of the UNDP/UNFPA/UNICEF/WHO/World Bank Special Programme of Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction (HRP) Research Project Review Panel, of the World Health Organization. She has two daughters and was on maternity leave in 2006/2007 and 2009/2010. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
