SC. degree in Zoology from (1981), Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (1987), all at the Universidade de São Paulo - USP, Professor at the Departamento de Zoologia of the Instituto de Biociências da Universidade/USP, Full Professor (2006), retired in 2012 Sênior Professor at the DZ-IBUSP until 2015.. Gave courses on Zoology of Vertebrates, Cave Biology, and Ethics and Conservation, Professor at the Post-graduation program on Zoology of IBUSP from 1989 to 2012 and the program on Bioethics in the University Center São Camilo from 2012 on. Has experience in Zoology, focusing mainly on Subterranean Biology, acting on the following subjects: cave biodiversity, taxonomy, population ecology, behavior, and evolution of subterranean fishes, biology of subterranean invertebrates, bat ecology, conservation of subterranean ecosystems, animal welfare and ethics.
