Maria Helena Cruz Pistori

She holds a PhD in Language and Literature from Universidade de São Paulo (São Paulo University) (2008), with split-site (Universidade de São Paulo São Paulo University/ Université Paris VIII) scholarship from CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel), a master?s degree in Education from Universidade São Francisco (2000), a bachelor?s degree in Pedagogy from Faculdade de Educação Campos Sallles (1998), and a bachelor?s degree in Language and Literature from Faculdade Filosofia Ciências Letras Sorocaba (1972). In 2013, she completed post-doctoral studies in the post-graduate programe Linguística Aplicada e Estudos da Linguagem (Applied Linguistics and Language Studies LAEL) from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (São Paulo Catholic University - PUCSP) with FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation) scholarship, under the supervision of Professor Beth Brait in the research field of Language and work, Theoretical-methodological contributions of the dialogical discourse perspective for the analysis of the relations between style, labor and identity construction. Her research project was entitled ?Mídia impressa e Discurso jurídico: ressonâncias dialógicas? (Print media and juridical discourse: dialogic resonance). In 2014, she started a new reasearch in her post-doctoral studies with CNPq (Brazilian National Research Council) scholarship (bolsa de pós-doutorado Junior/CNPq), in the same post-graduate program; her project is ?Linguagem, argumentação e verbo-visualidade? (Language, argumentation and verbo-visuality). She is editor and member of the advisory board of Bakhtiniana. Revista de Estudos do Discurso (Bakhtiniana. Journal of Discourse Studies), reviewer of several scientific journals, member of the following research groups at CNPq: ?Linguagem, Identidade e Memória? (Language, Identity, and Memory ?www.linguagemememoria.com.br), whose research is inspired by the work of the Bakhtin Circle; ?Pensamento e Linguagem? (Thought and Language) at Universidade de Campinas (Campinas University), whose studies correlate language/argumentation with knowledge development, and ?Grupo de Estudos de Retórica e Argumentação? - GERAR (Rhetoric and ArgumentationStudy Group) at Universidade de São Paulo, whose works are mainly about rhetoric and argumentation. She has experience in the area of language and literature, with an emphasis on Portuguese language, and mainly works with the teaching of how to read and write argumentative texts, Portuguese language, rhetoric, and legal argumentation.
