Graduated in Medicine at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (1983), Master degree in Allergology and Clinical Imunology at the Universidade de São Paulo (1993) and PhD in Pathology at the Universidade de São Paulo (1996). Presently, professor at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo, and head of the Laboratório de Micologia Médica (LIM-53) from the Divisão de Clínica Dermatologica, Hospital das Clínicas/Instituto de Medicina Tropical, FMUSP, and Medical-researcher of the Laboratório de Investigação em Dermatologia e Imunodeficiências (LIM56, Divisão de Clínica Dermatológica HC-FMUSP). Main areas of expertise are the study of the host-parasite interaction, with emphasis in leprosy and paracoccidioidomycosis, and new tools in mycological diagnosis; started a new area of research in immunosenescence.
