She holds a degree in Food Engineering from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1996), a master's degree in Hydraulic Engineering and Sanitation from the University of São Paulo (1999) and a PhD in Hydraulic Engineering and Sanitation from the University of São Paulo (2004). She is an associate professor at the Faculty of Zootechnics and Food Engineering at the University of São Paulo since 2012, having been hired in 2005. She is currently responsible for the Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory at FZEA / University of São Paulo since 2007. She was a visiting professor at the University of Minho (Portugal) in 2010 and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2013 (postdoctoral internship with FAPESP scholarship). Her research interests are related to Environmental Engineering, with emphasis mainly on the application of anaerobic processes for the treatment of wastes and for the production of energy, as well as its association with other processes integrating biorefineries.
