Research interests include Structural Mechanics and Structural Safety, in particular: structural reliability, stochastic processes, structural optimization. Member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering, ASCE-ASME Journal of Risk and Uncertainty in Engineering Systems, Structure and Infrastructure Engineering, Reliability Engineering and System Safety and Structural Safety. Chair of the São Paulo School of Advanced Science on Structural Safety, and its role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by the built environment.
